An old storehouse in the courtyard of the Paakarin Pys\u00e4kki Caf\u00e9 invites guests to enjoy tasty coffees like in old days . There, in the middle of old granary wooden walls you can experience piece of history and enjoy unique moments while enjoying pastries. Our caf\u00e9 is not just a place, it is a story that lives in every bite and every smile.<\/mark><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Story of Paakari\u2019s Granary<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The story of Paakari\u2019s granary began already in the 1800s, when it was brought\u2014log by log\u2014to the Wanhankoski farm. In the old days, granaries were built to stand the test of time, and they often moved with their owners when homes changed. A reminder of this tradition can still be seen in the old numbering marks on the logs.<\/mark><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each log was numbered so that the building could be reassembled in the correct order at its new location, making reconstruction easier. This granary may have travelled first to the Wanhankoski farm\u2014and later here to Paakarin Pys\u00e4kki\u2014perhaps even all the way from Southern Ostrobothnia, where the farm\u2019s oldest master once came from.
<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

The granary has served as a grain storehouse for over a century. Grain was threshed, dried, and stored in the grain bins inside, from which it was fetched as needed to be taken to the mill. Over time, such granaries were no longer needed, and this one too was left standing empty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Its story, however, was not meant to end there. To give it a new life, the building was moved to the backyard of Paakarin Pys\u00e4kki<\/em> for everyone to enjoy. The old grain bins inside were dismantled, and stairs were built leading up to the loft, allowing visitors to experience the granary\u2019s unique atmosphere.<\/mark><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Inside, you can enjoy a cup of traditional \u201caitta coffee\u201d and take a look at old items that tell stories from the granary\u2019s past.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
