Paakarin Pysäkki Café & Bakery
The heart of our café is its own bakery, founded at the Wanhankoski farm in 1994. At that time, the old cowshed was renovated into a home bakery, and we began baking traditional rye bread. The story of our sourdough starter, however, began much earlier — with the farm’s former hostesses, who baked bread for their families starting already in the late 1800s.
Marja-Leena, the founder of the company, decided to combine her own sourdough starter with the farm’s old one, bringing together the new and the old. The bread has been baked with the same recipe ever since, giving every loaf a touch of history.
In 2005, the business moved alongside Highway 4, and our café, Paakarin Pysäkki, was born. In the cozy atmosphere of Paakarin Pysäkki, we continue baking with care and heart, offering a selection of breads and pastries to our own café as well as to shops in the surrounding area.
Best of all, the old grain granary from the Wanhankoski farmyard invites visitors to enjoy traditional “aitta coffee.” In its atmospheric setting, you can experience a piece of history and savor unique moments alongside our pastries. Our café is more than just a place — it is a living story, present in every bite and every smile.

Paakarin Pysäkki – with all heart.
